From Kunming, the flight to Kathmandu is a scenic one that ends in an ascenscion over the eastern Himalayas before rapidly descending into the ancient city. I spent a month based in Kathmandu touring Nepal, famous for its embrace by the countercultural 60s, famous for its hospitality, its woodworking and architecture, its safaris, its chai, its momo, its yak cheese, and of course, its mountains.
