Southwest

Blue suitcase covered in retro travel stickers.

In 2020, amid the covid pandemic, I decided to take a spontaneous roadtrip to escape the news and my lockdown-era bedroom. I drove approximately three-thousand miles and fifty hours over the next ten days. My first stop was Big Bend National Park where I hiked various trails and traversed every accessible road. I slept in an open air tepee in neighboring Terlingua and then in a tent under the stars, ultra visible sans light pollution. Next, I stopped in Marfa, saw the Prada store, visited the Chinati Foundation. I drove to New Mexico where I went to the UFO museum in Roswell and spent a day at both White Sands National Park and Lincoln National Forest, sand skiing and then hiking through wildflowers and pines. A blizzard in Colorado meant I had to cancel my Rocky Mountain National Park reservation, so instead, I drove to Tucson and revisited the city and Saguaro National Park before heading east again.
